Day 1 — Nairobi → Amboseli National Park
Depart Nairobi early morning (6:30 AM) and
drive south through Kajiado County and Maasai lands towards the Tanzania
border. Arrive Amboseli National Park by mid-morning. Check in to your
lodge and enjoy lunch. In the afternoon, embark on your first game drive
— Amboseli is world-famous for its large elephant herds and the unobstructed views of Mount Kilimanjaro rising dramatically behind them. Also spot buffalo, wildebeest, zebras, and hyenas. Sundowner at the lodge. Overnight Amboseli.
Day 2 — Full Day Amboseli National Park
Full day exploring Amboseli with morning and afternoon game drives. Head to the Observation Hill
for sweeping panoramic views over the park's swamps, plains, and
Kilimanjaro. The swamp areas — fed by underground water from
Kilimanjaro's snowmelt — attract enormous concentrations of elephants,
hippos, and waterbirds. Look out for lions, cheetahs, and Maasai giraffes on the open plains. In the afternoon, visit a Maasai village (optional, own cost) to learn about traditional culture and pastoralist life. Overnight Amboseli.
Day 3 — Amboseli → Tsavo West National Park
After an early breakfast game drive, depart Amboseli and drive west into Tsavo West National Park
— Kenya's most scenic park, characterised by dramatic volcanic
landscapes, lava flows, and rolling savannah. Check in to your lodge in
time for lunch. In the afternoon, visit the legendary Mzima Springs
— a series of crystal-clear pools fed by underground water from the
Chyulu Hills, where hippos and crocodiles can be observed from an
underwater viewing chamber. Game drive en route back to camp. Overnight
Tsavo West.
Day 4 — Full Day Tsavo West National Park
Full day game drives in Tsavo West. Explore the Chyulu Hills foothills, the Shetani lava fields, and the park's diverse habitats ranging from open grasslands to dense bush. Tsavo West is excellent for Big Five sightings
— lions, leopards, elephants, buffalo, and black rhinos are all
present. The park's black rhinos are among the most frequently sighted
in Kenya. Keep an eye out for lesser kudu, gerenuk, and the vivid
carmine bee-eaters. Overnight Tsavo West.
Day 5 — Tsavo West → Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary
Morning game drive in Tsavo West, then depart for the Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary
— a private 28,000-acre conservancy nestled between Tsavo West and
Tsavo East. Check in to your lodge, which is built on stilts directly
over a floodlit salt lick. Animals visit the salt lick
at all hours — guests can observe elephants, buffalos, rhinos, and other
wildlife from the safety of the lodge verandah or the underground
bunker, including dramatic nocturnal salt lick viewing. Afternoon game drive within the sanctuary. Overnight Taita Hills.
Day 6 — Taita Hills → Tsavo East National Park
Early morning salt lick viewing before breakfast — wildlife activity peaks at dawn. After check-out, cross into Tsavo East National Park,
one of the world's largest national parks at over 13,000 sq km. Check
in to your riverside lodge in time for lunch. Afternoon game drive along
the Galana River, where massive herds of red dust-coated elephants come to drink and bathe. Spot Nile crocodiles, hippos, lions, and leopards in the riverine forest. Visit Lugard Falls — dramatic rapids where the Galana River squeezes through a narrow rock gorge. Overnight Tsavo East.
Day 7 — Tsavo East → Nairobi
Final sunrise game drive in Tsavo East — the
vast open plains are excellent for spotting lion prides and cheetahs in
the early morning light. Return to camp for breakfast and check-out.
Depart for Nairobi (approx. 4.5 hours via Mtito Andei or Voi). Arrive
Nairobi by late afternoon. Drop-off at hotel or JKIA. End of safari
services.
